“The reason we are doing this is that we are always trying to find a way of giving our guests a better service and better facilities,” said the property’s director of sales and marketing, Michael Lowe.

“Everyone loves The Millenium pool (beachside infinity pool) and it can get quite busy — although some prefer The Throne Pool, which is for our guests with families — so we are giving them another pool and relaxation area.”

Work has already started on the new facilities, which will be built on an area of land directly next to the property.

Construction work will stop during the peak winter period and re-commence next year, with a view to it being completed in Q2, 2011.

Lowe said the three suites at the current spa would be re-furbished and put into the hotel inventory taking the number of Kempinski Club Suites from 132 to 139. The remaining treatment areas would probably be transformed into a hair and nail salon, she said.

It is not yet decided what will happen to the current gym, which boasts prime position overlooking the Pacific Ocean next to The Millenium Pool.
